Testing links and font sizes with Firefox, Chrome, and Safari on Mac .

publication date: Mar 26, 2012
CAN YOU SEE ME?

Thursday, April 5 on Firefox:  12 pt highlight = perfect!
Center alignment = perfect! (at 10 pt)

Test from Tuesday, April 3 on Chrome:

The font size:  everything appears to be a bit smaller than it used to be.  This font size SAYS it is currently 12 pt in Chrome, but before the problem this was called 10 pt font (this is 10).

This font size says it's 8 pt in Chrome and 10 pt and 12 pt and 14 pt.  Yikes! (THIS IS ALL 10)

Test from Tuesday, April 3 on Firefox.

This font size says its 12 pt in Firefox.

This font size says its 8 pt in Firefox.  Where's my magnifying glass?

This font size says its 10 pt in Firefox.

This font size says it's 14 pt in Firefox.

This font size says it's 18 pt in Firefox.

So, I think I can work with them for now--even though they're a little flakey when you highlight and click; but they're not the same as they used to be.  I need consistency.  At least this is better than crazy Chrome!  :)

Oh No!  All the tests below got changed when the editor grabbed everything on the page and changed the entire font size to what it said was 18 pt, but looked like 14 pt.

I will not try to fix these tests.  Summary of tests below:  What it said was 8 pt was smaller than 8 pt.  What it said was 12 pt, was about 10 pt.

Test from Tuesday, 3/27/12 Firefox:
The Earth Day Hen and Friends   Link SHOULD connect to article The Earth Day Hen and Friends.  Copy pasted this & put in the box:  /articles/20110411

The font size:  everything appears to be a bit smaller in the edit option.  This font size SAYS it is currently 12 pt in Firefox.

This font size says it's 8 pt in Firefox.  Get out your magnifying glass!  :)

RESULT = Firefox brings up a weird box that won't make a working link.  (Screenshot sent to Support.)

Test from Tuesday, 3/27/12 Chrome= link works
The Earth Day Hen and Friends

The font size:  everything appears to be a bit smaller in the edit option.  This font size SAYS it is currently 12 pt.

This font size SAYS it's  8pt.

RESULT = Chrome had the familiar insert link box to put info in.  I linked to a page (not a download today) and it worked correctly.  The download/link connection had worked before.

SAFARI = (Linking was okay on the weekend, I think.)

This font size says it's 12 pt.  This font size says it's 8 pt.

WEDNESDAY TEST--3/28/12:
(after clearing cache for Firefox and Chrome)

Chrome:

This font size says it's 12 pt.  This font size says it's 8 pt.

Linking to article:  The Earth Day Hen and Friends article.  Link works.

Firefox:

This font size says it's 12 pt. And this font says it's 12 pt.  It jumps between these two now. This font size says it's 8 pt.

Linking to article:  The Earth Day Hen and Friends article.  Linking now works.  :)

Safari:

Linking worked with Safari before, so I'm not taking time to test Safari links again.

Praise from Teachers

...Keep doing what you are doing.  There are not enough quality scripts available for children and teens.  So many are inappropriate from a parent's perspective.  As a teacher I want to also build character and integrity while I teach a subject.  Why can't drama build up, inspire and be thought provoking?...Anyway, keep doing what you're doing...we need all the help we can get!
Jen H., Drama teacher

> ...I have been teaching for 35 years. RT has been part of my education journey for the majority of that time. Initially my experience with it was as a performance genre in the Drama Curriculum. Now I use it across the curriculum - a wonderful high motivation strategy in the language program - particularly reading - and so much more as you would know. I was drawn to your 'community' by the idea of leadership... I think what you're doing is wonderful..."
Graham B. Former primary teacher (now a Visual Art and Drama specialist)

Readers Theater All Year is the most comprehensive collection of Readers Theater scripts and resources I have found on the internet!...Thank you Carol for your leadership and vision and for making Readers Theater so accessible for teachers and parents.
Daniel Fiore, Elementary teacher/author What They Have Taught Me

I found the free readers theater online scripts, teaching tips, and curriculum teleseminars at Readers Theater All Year very inspirational to me. I used the Twelve Days of Christmas...Vacation script in my ESOL classes before Christmas break and my students all enjoyed it..
Lily T. Teacher (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

"> ..We did Squanto's Squash for the family on Thanksgiving and [my sons] participated and loved it. I am so excited about making this a major part of homeschooling. What a great way to learn!
Bethany P. Homeschooling Mom

> ...re: our script "The Earth Day Hen and Friends" I've used this! The kids love it. Thank you for sharing...It's just right for all levels in the class...Your free scripts are wonderful!...They learn so much from drama and reader's theatre...I see the shy ones gain confidence as they read. Fluency and prosody increases with reader's theatre...
Angela D., 3rd grade teacher
