Are you looking for a fun and creative way to honor mothers? Here's a very short, free Readers Theater script entitled "Mom: Every Day Is Mother's Day." Although this light-hearted Readers Theater script was written for choral Readers Theater, it could also work well as a puppet script for Mother's Day. The annotated curriculum links for easy lesson plans not only cover craft and gift ideas, but also the history of Mother's Day. 
"Abraham Lincoln: It's Lincoln Penny Day!" provides an entertaining avenue for studying Abraham Lincoln, based on historical documents. Suitable for President's Day celebrations or patriotic programs this free Readers Theater script comes in two versions: one for group/audience participation and one shorter version. Although there are two versions of this free Readers Theater script, the extensive curriculum links for easy lesson plans are the same for both. How would your students like to have a "Lincoln Penny Day"? It's easy since the curriculum links cover many grade levels and even include science experiments! "Underground Railroad Codes," a free Black History Readers Theater script, includes a bit about Harriet Tubman's life in addition to several code words from the Underground Railroad. Harriet Tubman's code name was "Moses" and the curriculum links at the end of this script usually include part of her story and photographs. Although this script has a lot of narration, it is broken up with the addition of a chorus. 
No Santa. No elves. Just twelve tongue-twisting days of Christmas... vacation. Based on the song, "The Twelve Days of Christmas" ("12 Days of Christmas"), this rollicking rendition may motivate students to clean their rooms by the time they finish! Surely your students would have fun creating their own compositions of "The Twelve Days of Christmas"?

So many are inappropriate from a parent's perspective. As a teacher I want to also build character and integrity while I teach a subject.
